Diary of Moshe Borger – page 2
Mielec, February 1, 1937 I am starting to write this diary on February 1, 1927, on the name day of President Ignacy Mościcki3. In this diary, I want to write not only about accidents or events affecting me and my life, but also about my thoughts, impressions and psychological experiences. I will start the proper notes with a handful of memories dating back to 1930, when I entered Year 1 of Public Secondary School in Mielec.4 I was prompted to write down all my thoughts and experiences by an inner need for confession to ease my heart and thoughts. Until I started writing my diary
3. Ignacy Mościcki (1867 – 1946) was a Polish chemist, politician, and President of Poland from 1926 to 1939. [Wikipedia]
4. Moshe says he is going back to “pierwszej klasy gimnazjum państwowego w Mielcu” which is Year 1 of State Gimnazjum in Mielec. A “Gimnazjum” is similar to a junior/senior high school in the United States. Moshe was born on July 3, 1920 so he is going back to when he was 10 years old.
