The South Block of the Old Jewish Cemetery of Mielec on ul. Jadernych can be considered the “center” of the cemetery. There are only a few stones here.
The main feature of the South Block is a large black marble obelisk in the center donated by Mielec Shoah survivor Rachel Sussman née Storch in 1993. It reads: ” “In memory of Polish citizens of Jewish nationality murdered by the Nazis during World War II, inhabitants of Mielec and the surrounding area. Founder Rachela Sussman 1993”
Prof. Leszek Hondo at Jagellonian University in Kraków is publishing a book (soon) of the Jadernych cemetery which will include these stones. Meanwhile here are a few images. Photos courtesy Beata Ślemp-Kwoka and Cezary Borowski.
The full collection of photos were uploaded to the JewishGen Online Worldwide Burial Registry (JOWBR) by Scott Genzer in 2018.
